After over 30 years working in Business & IT for Bank of Scotland and IBM our Managing Director, Alan Milnes, has set up Milnes Consultancy Ltd to provide Contracting & Consulting Services to the market-place.
Alan is highly experienced, commercially aware and capable of leading Organisations through complex change programmes including Migrations, Move to Cloud, Major Incident Recovery, Business Expansion, Outsourcing and Disaster Recovery. He has a wide skill set and is happy to pitch in and help companies grow in any way he can.

Set up his own company providing Consultancy and Contracting Services to the market place. Has developed business plans, consulted on Technical Solutions and advised a start up on go to market strategies.
Had the overall technical responsibility and accountability for Transition and Transformation of Global Enterprise Clients into IBM following the signing of new Outsourcing deals, migrating Clients from their existing platforms into IBM Data Centres and the Cloud (IBM / AWS / Azure). Took barebones solutions produced during Engagement phase and matured them to be delivery ready, produced Architectural documentation (HLD, LLD, Component Models etc), guided Technical teams and provided input to review meetings, presented solutions to clients, participated in Design Authorities both presenting solutions and reviewing submissions from others.
Developed and delivered new commercial services for delivery to external clients, typically large multi-nationals who had outsourced their IT to IBM. Defined all elements of the solution (people / process / technology), identified the resources required, people managed assigned professionals, monitored revenue and costs, and provided the overall leadership of the new services. Also people managed a team of Disaster Recovery professionals and oversaw DR Tests.
Had technical responsibility and accountability for specific elements (primarily Asset Management and Systems Management) of Transition and Transformation of new Global Enterprise Clients outsourcing their IT to IBM. Produced Architectural documentation ((HLD, LLD, Component Models etc), provided direct leadership for Technical teams. Developed Roadmaps for assigned services. Oversaw implementation of agreed solutions. Led trouble shooting for Major Incidents.
Travelled around Europe dealing with “troubled accounts”, generally audit failures or other similar problems. Reviewed the issue, spoke to all relevant parties, designed a solution, obtained buy-in and oversaw the implementation ensuring the underlying issues were resolved.
Began as a Bank Teller, moved into IT after completing my Bank Exams. Had roles as Computer Operator, Network Operator, Network Architect, Team Leader and latterly Senior Consultant. TUPEd to IBM in 2000.
